9 Signs You Need to Start Taking Better Care of Yourself

If you don’t feel as though you are taking care of yourself as much as you could be then this is a sign that something has to change. If you do not put in the effort to make a positive change now, then this could go on to impact you in the future and this is the last thing you need.

You’re Not Sleeping Well

Cortisol, a stress hormone, is supposed to lower at night. This gives your body the chance to rest and recharge. When you struggle with insomnia, this is often because your stress hormone levels are revved up. If you want to help yourself here, then you need to try and lower your stress response. This will stop your body from activating its survival mode, so you can sleep better at night.

You’re Getting Shorter

If you feel as though you are getting shorter then this could be because your bones are degenerating. A lot of the time, this is due to osteoporosis. Again, this doesn’t always mean that you have bone loss, but it could mean that you are starting to lose stature. One way for you to work around this would be for you to make sure that you are getting more than enough calcium in the day as well as a healthy dose of Vitamin D.  Doing weight-bearing exercises will help a lot here too, so make sure that you keep that in mind.

If your body has a lot of extra weight around the waist and around the belly then this is known as visceral fat. If this is the case, then you will probably be at way higher risk of developing metabolic disease. It’s so important that you get to the root of this issue as soon as possible because if you don’t then you may find that you end up paying for it later down the line.

You’re Constantly Tired

Sure, a lot of your fatigue may be down to you burning the midnight oil, and getting up the next day because you have to take the kids to school. That being said, you could be exhausted because your thyroid is not functioning as well as it could be. Your adrenal glands could be burnt out, or your body could well be exhausted from expending all of its energy protecting you from toxic overload. This is especially the case if you eat a lot of processed foods or if you have a lot of negative environmental exposure. Even more commonly, you may find that you are wiped out because your stress response is constantly turned on, and the only way your body knows how to combat this would be to shut down. Don’t ignore signs like this because if you do then you may find that your health suffers as a result. 

Your Urine is Dark

Hydration is so important if you want to make sure that your body is as healthy as possible. When you are hydrated, your urine will be clear. It’s important to remember that caffeinated beverages can be dehydrating so you need to stick to herbal teas or even green tea where possible as this contains less caffeine. It also contains a ton of healthy antioxidants, so you can boost your body in more ways than one.

You Snore A Lot

Snoring could well be a sign that you are struggling with sleep apnea. This is a sleeping disorder that can be characterized as an obstruction in the airways. If you are at risk of this then it could be a sign that you are at higher chance of developing pulmonary hypertension, or even heart failure. One way for you to work around this would be for you to eat well and to try and lose some weight. Try and focus on getting exercise every day and fill your plate with a lot of vegetables. If you can do this, then you will soon see that you can give your health a boost.

You Don’t Visit the Doctor

If you haven’t visited the doctor for quite some time, then this is a sign that something has to change. If you don’t go to see a healthcare professional now and again then it may be that you are behind in your vaccinations and that you are at risk of major health problems. You Have a Lot of Anxiety

You may think that your anxiety is all in your head and it could well be. Anxiety starts as a feeling within your mind and then it spreads to the other parts of your body. Over time, you may feel as though you are at higher risk of other diseases too.  If you have a lot of anxiety, then it may be that you are at risk of a hormonal imbalance or even hyperthyroidism. You Have White Marks on your Nails

Another sign that your health is not as good as it could be is if you have a lot of white marks on your nails. If this is the case, then it could be that you are lacking calcium in your diet. One way to work around this would be for you to try and incorporate more cheese and dairy in your diet, or for you to take a supplement. When you do this, you will soon find that it’s easier for you to get the health boost you need, so be mindful of that if you can. It could make all the difference to your bones and your oral health too.
