Four Reasons Why You’re Feeling Sluggish

Feeling sluggish is fairly normal on days where you’ve perhaps overdone it the night before had a particularly stressful week at work. Sometimes though, you may find that those sluggish feelings are ongoing and not disappearing. Here are four reasons why you’re feeling sluggish.

Too Much Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can be the number one factor to you feeling run down and tired. It’s a drug, and it can be your body’s way of telling you that it’s been a rough one. When you’re consuming alcohol, you shouldn’t always be drinking to get drunk, and it’s important you moderate your drink where you can do. If you’re concerned about the amount you’re drinking, you could always keep a food and drink diary. That way, you can look at what you’ve been drinking over the course of the week and make the necessary changes. You could take the drastic step to quit drinking completely for a while, to see how it changes your mood and bodily feelings. What happens when you quit drinking? Have you ever tried it before? Give it a go, and you might find that you feel a lot better because of it. Sometimes a day or two’s rest from alcohol can help reset your batteries and get you back to your usual self.

Not Enough Sleep

How much sleep have you been getting lately? The magic number is usually eight hours per night, and if you’re not hitting that number then it might be the reason why you’re feeling so run down and tired currently. A lack of sleep can really impact your health, and so it’s important that you’re prioritizing it and not sacrificing it for anything, whether it’s work or personal life. Sleep is needed for your body to recover and to help give you the energy you need for the following day. If you’re waking up and feeling sick, that’s not a good sign.

The Type Of Food You’re Eating

The type of food your digesting can certainly impact your body, and it’s worth looking at what you’re eating when it comes down to your diet. We all like to indulge every now and then, but some more than others can do it on a regular basis and if you’re not exercising, that can mean weight piles on, and therefore, you’ll likely feel more unhealthy as a result. Look at your food intake and change a few things up for healthier alternatives. Perhaps look at the moderation of what you’re eating and stop eating certain food groups to see if there’s any difference in how you feel.

Underlying Medical Condition

Most feelings of tiredness and that feeling of being sluggish can go away after a day or two, but if it’s been going for a while now, you might want to think about going to your doctors. It might be nothing, but it’s worth getting yourself checked over, just in case.

Feeling sluggish is your body telling you to look after it more, so make sure you do that.
