Naturally Slim

If you want to lose weight and tone up, but you don’t want to resort to extreme measures like diet pills or crash diets, you need to look at the habits of people who are naturally slim. There are millions of people out there who stay slim without making much of a conscious effort, and learning from them will help you control your weight much more easily than the cabbage soup diet or hours of exercise each day.

Take a look at the following tricks that naturally slim people employ to maintain their figures, and you might just get an insight into what you need to do too:

Eat Little and Often

Naturally slim people eat regular meals. They never skip breakfast, and they eat lunch and dinner regularly, along with a couple of healthy snacks throughout the day. It may seem counter-intuitive to eat so often when you are looking to lose weight, but eating little and often actually ensures that your metabolism is fired up, so you can more easily burn calories than you would if you ate one or two big meals during any 24-hour period. The key is to not eat more than your calories requirements.

Drink More Water

Many people who struggle with their weight eat food when they are actually thirsty. Naturally slim people, on the other hand, stay hydrated, so they never feel the urge to binge due to dehydration. It is often recommended that we all drink at least eight glasses of water each day, but there is little to no scientific evidence to back this up. Instead, drink whenever you feel thirsty and try having a glass of water before you snack. If you do, you might find that you weren’t actually hungry at all.

Snack on Fruit

Naturally slim people rarely snack on candy, fast food, and potato chips – they always have a piece of fruit on hand to fill them up and curb cravings when they get hungry. Fruits are low in calories and contain lots of vitamins and nutrients that will make you feel good and keep your weight in control.

Eat Slowly

Instead of scarfing down your dinner in five minutes flat, slow down, chew every bite slowly and enjoy your meal. You will probably find that you feel satisfied after eating a smaller portion because, by eating slowly, you are allowing your body’s natural awareness of how satiated you are to kick in.

Stop Before You Feel Full

Naturally slim people never stuff themselves., In fact, they often stop eating when they are around 80 percent full. Leaving a little room is a good way to keep calories under control and ensure that you do not overeat at any meal.

Small Portions

Individuals who have little trouble staying naturally slim tend to eat smaller portions. They use smaller plates and avoid the temptation to pile their food high.

Don’t Drink Calories

You’ll rarely see a naturally slim person sipping a sugar-laden soda – they tend to stick to low or zero calorie drinks such as plain water, unsweetened tea, and plain coffee. They only drinking sodas and fruit juices at the weekend or on special occasions.

Have a Treat

Although naturally slim people tend to have a diet that is, for the most part, devoid of chocolate, cookies, and chips, they do not deprive themselves totally. It is fine to have a small amount of your favorite naughty treat – just make the portion small and the time between treats long. Having a little of what you fancy will help you to curb cravings and avoid an almighty binge.

They’re Active

Naturally slim people are also naturally active. They don’t always take the car; they use the stairs instead of the elevator, and they exercise at least a few times a week.

They Exercise

As well as being naturally active, slim people tend to do some exercise and they take the time to find a sport or activity they love. They also avoid trends, which may be popular but are not necessarily the best option, as this Kayla Itsines review attests. Instead, they pick a sport or activity that they can stick to and which will keep them moving day after day, week after week.

They Don’t Do Guilt

When you’re trying to lose weight, you often sink into a circle of guilt and despair when you are unable to stick to your regime, and you eat an ‘unauthorized’ cookie or skip a scheduled workout. This does you no favors and can be a contributing factor in giving up your efforts altogether. Be like a naturally slim person and ditch the guilt. If you’re doing your best, that’s all you can do, and one cookie won’t ruin your efforts, but guilt-bingeing just might!

Pile the Plate with Veg

A naturally slim person’s plate is a veritable rainbow of colors and textures. It is filled with more vegetables than carbs, and as a result, it has far more vitamins and nutrients and fewer calories than the average plate.

A Positive Attitude

On the whole, naturally slim people have a positive attitude towards their health and well-being. They know that there are certain things they must do to maintain a healthy body and mind and they are happy to do them. If this is not your natural mode of being, it may not be easy to become more positive about your health and fitness, but if you try to think more positive thoughts than negative, and you make a real effort to be more like a naturally slim person, chances are you will see some success on the scales.

Habits

It is fair to say that naturally slim people have good habits. Some of these unconscious, some not. Habits are things you do day after day week after week. They are often so ingrained that it is not so easy to change them, but it’s not impossible either. One way you can switch out bad habits for positive ones is by choosing one habit such as eating a chocolate bar and replace it with a better one, such as eating more fruit, for 30 days. If you can stick to a habit for just one month, it will become as natural as your previous bad habit. Just don’t try to change all your bad habits at once – that’s a sure-fire way to fail spectacularly!

These are very good habits to follow and I do a lot of them. Drink plenty of water, eat slowly, eat little and often and I make sure to eat my veges!
