Grease is the word -Favorite Musicals on Netflix! #StreamTeam

Grease is the word for the month of May! If you haven’t already guessed it this month’s Netflix Stream Team focus is on favorite musicals! As the school year curtain starts to close more and more plays and musicals are hitting the local stages.

My daughter’s high school “Quirk’s Players” just preformed their annual school musical “Curtains.” The Broadway musical is a whodunit murder mystery set in 1959 Boston, Massachusetts.   It is about a police detective who is a musical theater fan and tries to solve the murder of an untalented leading lady who dies on stage. The musical event featured several catchy tunes such as “Wide Open Spaces,” “Thataway,” and “Show People” that had the audience humming along and tapping their toes! Everyone had a great time viewing the students showing off their musical talents!

Grease- men are amoebas!

I am sure there is a musical you can recall that you probably still know the words to? For me it is “Grease!” I dislike to admit it, but I know a few lines from the show which I have been guilty of reciting over the years such as “Men are rats, listen to me, they’re fleas on rats, worse than that, they’re amoebas on fleas on rats.” Yea go ahead and chuckle, but I bet there is a particular line from Grease you are able to quote word for word too! Grease is iconic and even though more than 30 years have passed since it originally debuted in theaters, the musical is still relatable, fresh, and entertaining as it was back in the 70’s! In fact, my 17 year old daughter and I just enjoyed watching it together on Netflix! However, I do not think she will be able to ever see another John Travolta film again without picturing him as the greaser Danny!

I love the movie Grease! It is one that I have seen over and over. I have even got my daughter hooked on it. Now Grease2 is a whole other story. I also love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It’s a classic. Maybe I can sweet talk my daughter into watching it with me this weekend.
