Do Actors Die In Threes?

[ad#Google Adsense-1]

I have heard that actors die in threes, but always thought it was some weird superstition.  However, I’m starting to wonder if there isn’t some truth to this myth.  Gary Coleman (1970s TV sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes)  died yesterday at age 42 from an intercranial hemorrhage.  TODAY there is breaking news actor Dennis Hopper dies at age 74!  He was battling prostate cancer which unfortunately took his life.  Extremely sad!  My question is who is next?  VERY SCARY!

Well, they aren’t teh only two who have recently passed. Lena Horne recently passed, Simon Monjack (not really an actor but was married to Brittany Murphy), and Art Linkletter. There are a few other celebs who recently passed also.

    Hi Jaime!

I heard about Simon Monjack! He died in the same room Brittany Murphy did! STRANGE! I think those actors deaths were spread apart though by a week or more. Lena died on May 9, Monjack died May 23, and Linkketter died May 26th. Maybe Art was the first of the three, since his death was only a few days ago!

To correctly do the Dying in Three’s belief, everyone has to agree in what time frame the three have to die withing. Whether the parameter set will be one week, two weeks, or three weeks. Otherwise it is just a subjective sense of dying in three’s and not objective.

When I worked in the nursing homes where I live we always used the two week parameter as a fixed time frame. I say that it was accurate about 50% of the time.
It seemed like about half the time we’d end up having two more patient’s/residents die within two weeks of the first, and then the other 50% of the time we wouldn’t.
I imagine it’s the same for celebrities. Only celebrities don’t seem to have the age confinds as we usually did in the nursing care centers. Celebrities active or retired span multiple generations, so there may be a higher probability of dying in three’s, especially if you allow a wider time parameter like a month in which three would die.
