Betty Crocker Fruit Flavored Snacks Giveaway – Win One Give One Laptop!

My two kiddos love the great taste of Betty Crocker Fruit Flavored Snacks so they were very happy to see two boxes sitting on my door step given to me from Betty Crocker through MyBlogSpark!  They have fun unrolling the fruit and munching down the sweet fruity treats.  I would much rather them reach for the gluten free Fruit Roll-Ups than candy and try to always keep a few boxes within their reach.   Now just by doing what they like to do best (snacking),  they have a chance to win a laptop and more importantly to help make a difference to a child in Africa.

With specially marked boxes of kid favorites – including Fruit Roll-Ups, Gushers, Fruit by the Foot, and Stickerz & Shapes – your child could win one laptop to keep and Betty Crocker Fruit Flavored Snacks will donate another to a child in Africa.

Each day from now through May 30, 2010, one laptop prize will be awarded to a U.S. winner. For every laptop won, one laptop will be donated to an African child through One Laptop per Child , an organization that creates educational opportunities for the world´s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning. For your chance to win, simply enter the unique online code printed on participating Betty Crocker Fruit Flavored Snack packages on www.WinOneGiveOne.com.

Additionally, MyBlogSpark made a donation of $25 to One Laptop per Child on my behalf and will like to give two boxes of a variety of Betty Crocker Fruit Flavored Snacks along with another $25 donation give away to one of my readers.   Heres how to enter…

Our MOPS group decided to be a part of Make A Difference Day. We put the call out to our community to donate new and gently used items. We were donating all of it to two local shelters and to the homeless in our area.

I brought my 3yo and 7yo daughters along with me. They both helped me sort and package things up. As we were doing so I talked to them about what and why we were doing it. They enjoyed it and felt good about helping other less fortunate.

We were shocked and overwhemingly surprised at the genorosity of our community. We received so many wonderful and new items and bags and bags of new blankets etc… We weren’t sure if the shelters would have enough room. Sure enough they did and were so very thankful.

I volunteer with my son. He also does things as part of his membership in the student council. I encourage him by support causes he likes. Every year we save pennies for the United Way. We donate his old clothes when we take trips to El Salvador to people there.

Recently I played for a funeral of a 72 day old baby.
Knowing the family has insurmountable medical bills, I requested they not pay me.
That was a way that I recently did something simple and easy to help out a family in need!

We are long time volunteers in our community (I was raised this way and it is just our way of life) but new this year for my kids is the Hearts Club at our elementary school. Several teachers wrote a grant for starting a volunteer club that meets once a week after school where the KIDS create items, bake items, etc. which culminates for each grade in a off campus field trip where they volunteer for a local charity. My 4th grade daughter just finished hers at the local outreach center, sorting clothing donations, organizing the pantry food items and weeding their community garden. She loved it and we were so proud!

Helping others isn’t something we make an effort at. It something that we do naturally whenever the opportunity strikes. This sets an example for our children who learn from us and are an example of us. So, we never have to force or mandate that our children help others. It comes naturally.

The company I used to work for had a mentoring program. Their employees would volunteer to be mentors. There was a troubled children residence relatively close by, and the employee volunteers would be matched up with one of the children there. We would do things with the child on the campus since one had to get special permission to take them off-campus. I liked playing games, doing puzzles, and helping them with their schoolwork. It’s really scary how if a child has problems reading, it really affects all their schoolwork. I would try to make reading more fun by bringing wordsearch puzzles, crossword puzzles, riddles & jokes, Something that wasn’t too hard.

Before Christmas and birthdays we collect toys, books, and clothing to give to other kids in our family and in the community. My daughter takes an active part in the selection of what goes, and she understands that we give good things to others, not broken, junky things, and that we give what others need, not just what we don’t want anymore.
