If you’re struggling with money right now, you’re not alone. We know that it feels like there is nobody in the world who can understand what you’re going through, but we promise you that there is. Money is hard, life is hard, and it’s a pain in the behind to keep going when you feel so helpless, but you just need to take it back to basics and see if this helps, okay?
In this article, we’re going to be giving you some ideas of what you should be doing if you’re struggling with money right now. It won’t work for everyone, but it’s a good place to start. Keep reading if you would like to find out more.
Budgeting
We want to start by looking at budgeting. Budgeting is one of those things that has been talked about time and time again, and yet there are still people who don’t seem to understand just how important this is. When you’re not budgeting, you’re not putting yourself in the strongest financial position because you don’t currently understand your financial position.
You need to know exactly how much you’re getting in, and exactly how much you’re paying out each month so that you can work out if you’ve got enough to cover it all, and what you’re going to have left. This needs to be updated to reflect your current financial situation also, so when things change, your budget needs to change.
Saving
The next thing that we’re going to talk about is saving. Saving is one of the most important things that you can do for your future, so we strongly recommend doing it as best you can. There are multiple methods of doing this, and it’s just a case of figuring out what and how. If you’re not someone who can afford to set a specific amount aside per month, don’t. You don’t have to save how someone else saves for it to be valid.
If you’ve got a little money leftover in cash and you want to put this in a pot, do that. If you want to transfer whatever you have left at the end of the month to savings and save this way, do that. Do what works for you, and don’t worry about anyone else.
Get Help
The last thing that we want to talk about is the fact that there is help out there for those who are struggling with money right now. If you’re a low income household, then you can apply for HEAP for your energy bill, and other schemes to help you with what you need to pay. There is no guarantee that you’re going to be eligible for acceptance as there are strict criteria, but you’re never going to know if you don’t apply for the help you need.
So, there you have it. These are some of the things that you should be doing if you are struggling with money right now. Finances aren’t forever, and your situation will change again at some point, so try not to stress out too much.
