Finding Ways To Make Your Family Finances Last Longer

Having some extra cash to spend on the family is always a positive. It can be easier than you think to make some extra money from the comfort of home that could be used towards your next family vacation or simply as a treat for yourself. Here are some ideas to get you inspired.

Sell Unwanted Possessions

The first place to begin at home is to look through your possessions to see if there are any items that you can sell to somebody else. It is a lot easier to sell items online instead of having to set up a car boot or yard sale. You might have some valuable jewellery you no longer wear, shoes, clothes, children’s toys or books that could be sold through an app or website. You will be surprised at how much you could accumulate in sales if there are a lot of items that you no longer need that are not being used.

Revamp Items of Furniture

Instead of automatically buying new furniture, check to see if you have anything in storage that you could upcycle instead. It is much kinder to the environment to reuse as many items as possible instead of just buying items and replacing them not long after. Sometimes all it needs is a good clean, a fresh coat of paint or some new fabric to transform it and you have a new item of furniture to use in no time.

Grow Your Own Fruit and Vegetables

If you have a garden, then why not try to grow your own fruit and vegetables this year? There is nothing more satisfying than seeing those little seeds transform into beautiful fresh produce that you have lovingly looked after. You could then make some delicious meals with the produce you are able to successfully grow. It will certainly be much better than shop bought groceries.

Exercise Outdoors

Instead of spending lots of money each month on a gym membership which you are not guaranteed to use all the time, you can exercise for free outdoors instead. You could go for walks, runs or practice yoga in a nearby park. The natural scenery will be a lot more appealing, it is good for your physical and mental health and you would be saving lots of money each month which could go towards something else. So the benefits certainly outweigh the negatives.

Boost Your Savings

If you have money sitting aside that is not doing much then why not try investing it instead in the stock market. With the variety of online investment accounts that exist now you could certainly find the correct one for you. There are even opportunities to utilize an automated trading platform which helps to seek out the best investment in the stock market, without you needing to do anything. This can be particularly useful if you need assistance within this area of investment.

Another great way to boost your income and savings is to invest in property. This will either provide you and your family with a constant stream of income each month or give you one big lump sum. You can decide whether to sell houses on or rent them out, whoever option suits you best. You don’t have to go down the traditional mortgage route, you could always apply for DSCR loans. These look at the value of the property as an asset rather than your own personal finances. Just make sure that you’re fully ready to commit to this and you have a plan. Over time, you’re going to want to start looking into helpful little things like cost segregation to help with your finances, but wait until you’ve got the basics handled first.
