Should You Dedicate One Day A Week To Veganism?

Complete veganism isn’t for everyone. Maybe you love a slice of bacon or sausage in the morning, or maybe you just love a creamy milky coffee midday to keep your energy levels up – it’s totally normal! Some people, however, like the idea of veganism and what it stands for, and try and incorporate it into their diets where they can. Some people though, choose to introduce veganism into their diets for ethical or medical purposes, and you might be wondering what you can do to do your bit when it comes to veganism.

For those that love their meat and dairy products, total veganism might not be preferable. However, switching out one day a week (or as much as you can handle) for a completely vegan day can make the world of difference. So the question is, should you dedicate one day a week to veganism? Check out these incredible reasons why you might consider it.

Lots of nutrients in your diet

With a vegan diet, you get the chance to pack your diet with loads of nutrients from fruit and vegetables, which is extremely beneficial to the body. Not only that, a common misconception is that vegan food can be boring! You can still enjoy the textures and tastes of meat through using meat substitutes and spices to make your meals exciting. You can check out loads of ideas with No Evil Foods and a plethora of other sites available online so that your meals are vegan, yet still delicious and nutritious.

Doing your bit for the environment

Choosing to eat vegan is very good for the environment. Not only are you cutting fuel and time costs in slaughterhouses and production lines, but being a vegan means using vegan friendly products too such as reusable coffee mugs, and eliminating plastic from your life wherever possible. Thanks to developments in the industry, many people are now living a completely plastic free, vegan friendly life!

Save money

Despite common perception, adopting a vegan diet does not entail a considerable financial investment. Okay, you can buy vegan convenience foods, which will cost you more in the long run, but you can save a lot of money by making your own homemade food. You save money by substituting plant protein (such as tofu and beans) for red meat, not to mention the money you save by using reusable items.

End world hunger

Going vegan, even if only for a day, is arguably the most important accomplishment since you’ll be joining the race against world hunger. Consider this: over half of the world’s plants are used to feed livestock, and by removing the middleman and just eating the crop, you’re assisting in the reduction of world hunger. The less livestock desire, the more crops are available to feed the billion people who go hungry every day.

Vegan diet isn’t for everyone, but substituting vegan alternatives one day a week can help you get more nutrients in your diet, save money, help the environment, and combat world hunger.
