As a conscientious person, you are no doubt looking for environmentally friendly travel destinations. Each year, the list of worldly sites that cater to those who want to leave as little behind as they can, grows and grows.

Below are 4 amazing eco-friendly destinations for you and your family or group of friends to explore while leaving the smallest carbon footprint behind. For more information, visit inspire4travel.

  1. Bom Bom Resort, Sao Tome

This small island, off the West Coast of Africa in the Gulf of Guinea, is pristine and untouched. It is one of the two main islands of Principe and Sao Tome. There are only 19 bungalows, nestled on the beach and surrounded by a lush tropical forest. Travelers will enjoy tours of local coca plantations, hiking, and scuba diving in the UNESCO Biosphere and fishing among the local villagers. There are also several hundred different wildlife creatures, both in and out of the water, and many of them in the air, to commune with during your stay.

  1. Turtle Conservation, North Cyprus

Located in Kyrenia, North Cyprus on the Northern Coast of this beautiful Mediterranean Island, Alagadi Beach has something for everyone. The biggest attraction is the endangered loggerhead and green turtles. This is the breeding ground where approximately 2000 loggerheads and 450 green turtles come to lay their eggs. The Marine Turtle Research Group is in charge of keeping the turtles safe and healthy. There are also volunteer positions one can apply for, to help out for up to three months, and students are encouraged to attend.

  1. The Emerald, Cornwall, England

Located in the Southwest area of England, The Emerald is a jewel of Cornwall, England. This destination features zero-carbon tourist accommodations, which means they produce their own water, electricity, and use every piece of recycling materials they possible can. The amenities offered include a play area for children, a gym, an indoor heated swimming pool, and private hot tubs, and nearly five acres of forest paths to hike and explore.

  1. Inkaterra, Tampopata National Reserve

The Inkaterra Guide Field Station, a former research location, is located at the remote Tampopata National Reserve in Peru. The cabanas, each have a private terrace and are nice accommodations in a location in the middle of nowhere.
