Our Family Pledge to Disconnect to Reconnect

We took the pledge to make time for family this summer and reconnect! Putting the devices away for an hour every Friday seems simple enough. However, it isn’t going to happen without some serious dedication. Each one of us is going to have to place our smartphones in a basket that won’t be touched until the hour is over.

Summer goes by so quickly! I want to be able to make some family memories we all can remember and cherish for years to come. Family Fun Nights this summer will consist of activities that do not use any tech devices, such as old-fashioned board games, outdoor funtivities (badminton, basketball, telling stories around a campfire, ect.), and making delicious treats like A&W Brownie Sundae Root Beer Floats!

The float calls for a frosty mug, brownie bits, two scoops of vanilla ice cream, A&W Root Beer, chocolate sauce, maraschino cherry, chopped nuts, sprinkles, and whipped cream. Tip: We found chilling the brownies before cutting them made them easier to cut into bits. It added an extra cool yumminess to the float.
