21st Birthday Bash: 10 Perfect Gift Ideas for Your Son

21st-birthday

21 is the legal drinking age in America and that means for many adults it’s time to celebrate for the first time with booze. Many of the 21st birthday gift ideas for your son on this list focus on presents designed with alcohol in mind.

But there are also some great sober suggestions for parents who want to inspire their kids in other directions too. So read on and get inspired.

  1. A Craft Cocktail Book or Wine Guide

Making a great cocktail is one of those essential life skills we should all learn on our 21st birthday. There are many great books out there full of drink recipes for your son to try. You can even get him some of the alcohols he will need to make them.

  1. An Exceptional Set of Glassware

There is something very adult feeling about drinking from the right glass and what better occasion to purchase someone glassware than their 21st birthday?

Depending on who you’re buying for, you may want to invest in different kinds of wine glasses, whiskey glasses, beer glasses, and shot glasses. You may also want to get them a nice cocktail mixer and strainer so that they can make more complex drinks.

  1. Regulation Size Party Games

Although at 21 you’re allowed to drink, you’re still very much a kid at heart. Why not buy some fun party games to play?

You can get regulation-size corn hole boards, an official-size beer pong table, or any other fun game to play outside. They’ll find a way to add in the drinking component.

  1. A Shot Glass Roulette Set

Shot glass roulette is a fun tabletop game that a lot of people like to play. It’s a nice game to leave out in your apartment for friends to suggest playing when they are over.

The game shares a similar feel to Russian-roulette since you never know if you are going to end up having to take a shot or not and what that shot will be.

  1. Tickets to a Festival

A lot of 21-year-olds are extremely into music and would love the chance to go to a festival of their favorite artists. But most of the time tickets to those kinds of events are extremely expensive.

Consider asking your son if there is a concert, show, or festival coming up that he would like to go to and purchase a ticket for him. You may be tempted to purchase a ticket for yourself too, but hold off unless you really like the music.

These kinds of festivals are often multiple days long with primitive camping as the only way to stay overnight. It may be a bit more than you bargained for.

  1. New Camping Gear

If your child loves to camp, then you should inspire them to carry that activity into adulthood. Unfortunately, a lot of kids no longer have their camping gear because they went off to college and their parents got rid of it when they moved houses.

But you can always buy them a new tent that makes more sense for their size and some sleeping bags so they can invite their friends for a weekend in the woods. You can also include a lantern and cooking supplies if you want to put together the whole package.

New camping gear will inspire your son to stay young and get out there and explore. It’s an incredible gift of adventure particularly if your child has been suffering from depression lately.

  1. New Furniture

Most 21-year-olds have apartments that are full of hand-me-down furniture. And while you may have already given your son a lot of pieces from your old house, it’s not the same as letting him pick out something that suits his style and purchasing it for him.

Consider taking your son shopping at a legitimate furniture store and helping him secure a great piece, even if you are just helping out with some of the financing approval. Most 21-year-olds don’t have enough credit established to buy things like that on their own.

  1. A Subscription to a Wine or Beer Club

There are many different companies that offer subscription services to various wine and beer clubs. It’s a great way to try new things and establish your palette.

But if you want to give a truly exceptional gift, you should try to find a wine or beer club in the area where your son lives and buy him a subscription to that. That way, he will have the opportunity to get out and meet other people who share his interest.

  1. A Booze Cake or Gift Basket

A booze cake or gift basket is a great way to get your son set up with all of the best spirits and cocktails out there. You can include mixers, salts, and all sorts of souring ingredients that they can use to mix up their own homemade cocktails.

A booze cake is also a great present to go along with the cocktail book or the glassware set mentioned earlier on the list.

  1. A Classy Wristwatch

Wearing a nice wristwatch like a Rolex Submariner Blue makes you feel like you have made it as an adult. If you can afford to gift someone that feeling, it could make a huge difference in shaping them in life.

When you give someone a nice wristwatch, you are giving them the first piece in what may become one day a collection. You’re inspiring them to aim for the finer things in life.
