Little Changes = Big Difference!

It’s as the song goes, little things mean a lot, and it is never truer when it comes to your health. The reason why so many diets fail or so many people cannot break certain habits is because of the massive changes they make in their lives. They try to cut out sugar completely, or they go cold turkey on cigarettes, or they run a marathon. These things are all the wrong way to go about making a positive change in your health, and you will go right back to square one. By making small but positive changes, it is surprising how they can extend your life!

Flossing

Some people swear by it, and some people don’t bother, but by flossing your teeth every day, you could add a few years to your lifespan! The reason behind it is that the bacteria left in your mouth, can enter the bloodstream. This will trigger inflammation in the arteries, which can contribute to heart disease! Flossing is actually good for the heart, not to mention it will reduce bad breath and make your whites nice and pearly!

E-Cigarettes

There is a lot of information about whether e-cigarettes are worse for you than normal cigarettes. But the fact is that if you are trying to cut back on the nicotine, you can usually add as much or as little nicotine into your e-cigarette as you are used to, so you can take the positive steps to gradually reduce the amount until you are completely free of nicotine.

HIIT

High-Intensity Interval Training has been a way for people to get the benefits of exercise in a short amount of time. Many people find they haven’t got the time to do a long run, so by doing something like Tabata sprints means you will get the benefits of a big exercise in a fraction of the time. But be warned, it isn’t called “high-intensity” for nothing! In the beginning, a few minutes will be enough to make you feel like you’ve been running with Roger Bannister! Once you have become comfortable with one set of Tabata sprints, you can increase the intensity.

Cold Shower

Yes, I’ve saved the best for last! It may sound like the definition of pain for so many, but the cold has so many health benefits, and it’s definitely a way to cut back on expensive healthcare costs! The cold helps blood flow to your extremities, it encourages your muscles to heal faster after exercise, it reduces inflammation, it helps you to lose weight, it gives your immune system a boost, so you will get fewer colds and viruses, and it is even good for making your hair really shiny! But for a lot of people, it doesn’t sound like a good way to enjoy a shower. A lot of people start off with a hot shower and mixing it up between hot and cold, so you can gradually get used to the cold. Before you know it, you are craving the cold because it wakes you up completely and gives you total focus!
