The Great New York State Fair Chevy Court and State Fair Grandstand Concerts!

Only 76 more days until the New Your State Fair opens its gates!  I’m very excited to attend this year, because there is going to be some FANTASTIC entertainment at the Chevy Court and State Fair Grandstand!

All shows at Chevy Court are free with Fair admission and offer an array of shows that will appeal to a broad audience of Fairgoers. Two different acts will perform each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. so plan on spending the whole day at the fair to be able to catch both concerts.  Three more of the 24 acts scheduled to perform during this year’s Chevy Court concert series were recently announced. Let me tell you…my daughter is going to FREAK out when she hears the news that THE SCRIPT  is  one of them and will be performing Sept. 3 at 8 p.m!  The Script is an Irish rock band from Dublin that debuted back in 2009 in the United States with the release of their first album “The Script.”  If you are not familiar with the name of the band you might recognize who they are when I mention their hit singles “We Cry”, “Breakeven” and “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” which topped the charts worldwide!  Check them out!

Other acts scheduled include…

The Midtown Men -performing Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m

Charlie Wilson -performing Friday, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m.

Allstar Weekend -performing at 2 p.m. Aug. 28

Glenn Miller Orchestra -performing at 2 p.m. Aug. 29

REO Speedwagon -performing at 8 p.m. Aug. 29

Big Time Rush -performing at 8 p.m. Sept. 1.

As more shows are announced I will keep updating the  list above to include all 24 concerts.

The State Fair Grandstand is an outdoor venue which has a roof that only covers the top upper level seating sections, all events are held rain or shine. Ticket prices vary depending upon show and seating.  This year’s performances announced thus far include…

Maroon 5 and Train with Gavin DeGraw -Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 7:30pm

Journey with Foreigner and Night Ranger -Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 7:30pm

Lady Antebellum with Sunny Sweeney -Friday, September 2, 2011 at 7:30pm

Sugarland with Sara Bareilles -Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 7:30pm

This is just a few of the concerts and more to be announced soon!

Tickets for all State Fair Grandstand shows can be purchased at The New York State Fair Box Office (first day of ticket sales only), Ticketmaster retail outlet locations which includes the Oncenter Box Office in Syracuse, online at Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone sales at 1-800-745-3000 or 1-866-448-7849. The Box Office, which charges no service fees, will not be open again until the next on-sale date. Regular hours will begin in early July.

“Tickets for people with special needs – including those who are hearing impaired, use a wheelchair or have difficulty doing stairs – will go on sale at the same time as general seating tickets.”

“Tickets purchased for any grandstand concert/show includes admission the day of that show for the ticket holder. Children must be ages 12 or younger to be eligible for any show/event children’s price. Children ages 2 and under that sit on an adult’s lap do not need a ticket.”

The 2011 New York State Fair will be open from August 25 through September 5.

Do any of you attend the New York State Fair or plan on it this year?
