It’s almost a shame these days that people don’t appreciate the cinema as much as they used to. Whilst there are plenty of action films and various adult-orientated flicks, many forget the simple fun that the cinema can offer to a family.
Take Epic, for example. If the latest trailers are anything to by, this looks set to potentially reinvigorate the family film genre. Whilst it’s a simple adventure for children, there’s always something for adults to enjoy. This is something that is generally lacking in other films, which usually either cater to children or pander to adults. They typically can’t offer a bit of both. However, Epic just looks like good old fashioned fun.
What is Epic?
To put it simply, Epic is the latest film offering from Blue Sky Studios and could be one of the bigger films this year. The movie itself tells the story of a conflict between good and bad, set on a miniature scale in the wilderness. The premise seems simple, but offers plenty of depth, from talking slugs and other animals to intense action sequences and all manner of CGI cinematic spectacle.
Epic is also made from the creators of Ice Age. If you’ve seen any of those films, you’re probably already aware of their immense popularity. Children of all ages loved them, and adults often found them amusing to watch. Epic looks set to continue this trend, as the trailer alone shows plenty of depth and promise.
Family-Friendly
One of the benefits of going to the cinema is that it forms a cheap, yet entertaining part of any family day out. The only down side is usually deciding on a film. As already mentioned, everyone has their own tastes and preferences, so it’s never easy finding a film that pleases everyone. Some people like comedy, while others prefer action and adventure.
Yet whether you go with family or friends, Epic looks like it will be the kind of light-natured movie that offers large portions of everything; the ultimate crowd pleaser that can end any argument over what to see.
